The Type 20 refers to a specification for pilot chronographs issued by the French Ministry of Defense. The unique feature of the Type 20 was the "flyback" function, which allowed the pilot to easily reset the chronograph hand to zero and quickly begin timing a new event without having to press two additional buttons. Other features of the original Type 20 chronographs included a 38 mm case diameter, a black dial with luminescent indexes and hands, a hand-wound mechanical movement with a power reserve of over 35 hours, a relative accuracy of +/- 8 seconds per day, and finally, the ability to withstand starting, stopping, and resetting the chronograph over 300 times without causing any problems to the movement.
